CASTLE PLAYER DISPLAYS TREMENDOUS SPORTSMANSHIP

On Sunday, the Castle Girls 11U team played a league game against New Heights in the Zero Gravity Winter League.  Castle jumped out to an early lead and it was over twenty points at halftime.  In the second half, and with the margin expanding, New Heights substituted a younger player into the game to allow her to gain some experience.  Shortly, after entry, her sneakers became untied and she remained at Center Court attempting to tie her sneakers.  Realizing that the player was unable to make it happen, Castle’s ZOE CARTER stepped up during a foul shot sequence, knelt down and tied the New Heights player’s right sneaker and then her left.  Players and parents watched in amazement and admiration of Zoe and her big heart.  When she was done, Zoe received a standing ovation from everyone in the gym.

Zoe is a wonderful example of the Castle student athlete and the type of sportsmanship that we hope is displayed in all our games.  Thank you Zoe!!!

CASTLE CHALLENGE IS BACK!

After taking a few years off due to Covid, the Castle Challenge is back and scheduled to take place June 23-25, 2023 at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn. The tournament will be open to Boys and Girls teams 14U-Varsity level.

Castle Athletics President Brian Rosen said “we wanted to get back to what we did pre-Covid and this event is a great opportunity to showcase talent from NYC and beyond and Kingsborough. It is the Summer and the venue is on the beach and near Coney Island Amusement Park. It is a super spot for teams to play basketball and enjoy the scenery and event. We are hoping that many programs see the chance to have a great time and experience great competition.”
