Castle Teams Win UA Hoop Dreams Chips

announced April 7, 2014

The 11th Grade and 9th Grade boys teams continued their winning ways and pulled down championships in the Under Armour Hoop Dreams tournament in Trumbull, CT. Like the championship the week before, the 11th Grade Knights played a complete game on both ends of the court. Again, there was balanced scoring and tenacious defense. Coach Rudy King noted that the “team understands what it takes to play the right way. This will help as we begin a run of three very difficult tournaments.”

The 9th Grade squad had a tougher road but came back victorious in the end. Early on, the Knights lost to the Mplex Mustangs but faced them again in the championship. This time, they were led by Victor Potter’s 27 points and beat the Stangs by 11. Headed by Coach Brian Hamano this week, the Knights saw other significant contributions from, among others, Julio Valera and Zach Falch. “Everyone played great in the Final. But, Victor, Zach and Julio provided leadership, defense and a spark for others to follow.”

The 10th Grade and 8th teams also competed this weekend, with the 10th Grade Knights playing up and facing off against their older Castle mates in the semi-finals.

All boys continue this week in the Hoop Group Spring Jam Fest.
