Castle Gallops to Victory at Thoroughbred Classic

announced March 31, 2014

Castle's 10th and 11th grade teams started their spring seasons in superb fashion, racing to championships in the Under Armour Thoroughbred Classic in Saratoga, New York. The tournament hosted over 150 teams from New York City up through Upstate New York.

The 10th grade team rolled through its competition winning by double digits in each of its games. Ghandhi Martin, coach of the 10th grade Knights, was extremely proud of his team. "We just came together and the boys’ hard work showed immediate dividends. They played well together and defended relentlessly. I look forward to a great season."

Equally impressive, the 11th grade team blended so well and combined it's great athleticism with perimeter shooting and a stout defense. Coach Rudy King noted that "the boys have placed the team before themselves and they will continue to thrive as basketball players with such a tremendous attitude."

The 9th and 8th grade teams also participated and played very well, just missing out on the championship bracket.

All teams continue this week with the UA Hoop Dreams Invitational in Connecticut. Also, the Girls program gets underway at the Last Team Standing tournament in Ardsley, NY.
