Castle Teams Finish Live Periods Strong / Younger Teams Hit the Local Hardtops

announced August 2, 2017

The Castle Athletics boys and girls high school teams finished the Live period with outstanding runs in their respective tournaments. The past three weeks saw the boys compete in Las Vegas (in both the Adidas Summer Championships and the Big Foot Las Vegas Classic), Spooky Nook (at the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest) and Springfield (at the Basketbull Summer Championships). In between, players attended elite camps such as the Hoop Group camp at Albright College where Souleymane Koureissi was named Most Outstanding Prospect, Malachi DeSousa was named MVP of the All-Star game and numerous other Castle players were selected to the all-star teams. Additionally, Koureissi was one of the 80 players nationwide to attend the UA All-American camp where he shined and gained national recognition. At the respective tournaments, the 17U, 16U and 15U boys teams competed hard and, in each, went deep into the tournaments with the 15U squad (coached by Marcus Matthews) winning the championship in Springfield and the 16U team (coached by Rudy King) finishing in the runner-up position. In Las Vegas, the 17U team ran through its pool at Adidas 3-0, then knocked off K Low Elite before bowing out with a close loss to the Atlanta Celtics, a premier Adidas Gold squad.

The 16U girls team has had a great Live period as well. The team played at Spooky Nook in the Blue Chip before heading to the Nike tournaments in Chicago and Atlanta. The team, led by Emilee Christopher and Percell Dugger, represented the program well and showed the talent that will be hitting the courts in the upcoming year for Castle Athletics and their respective high schools.

The younger Castle teams are still playing and representing the organization in July and August. Teams are competing in NYC tournaments such as Future Talent, Ballin Out Loud, Positive Influence, Just Say No, The Goat, Each One Teach One, and Gladiator Sports.

Congratulations to all coaches and players!! Enjoy the rest of the Summer!!
